Of course not, in August a beach in Usedom does not resemble this picture of tranquillity. The popular Northern German resort becomes a summer getaway for many visitors seeking sun and water. However, I tend to like the Baltic Coast during the less traveled times.
Usedom is a two-hour and thirty minute drive from Berlin.
Wismar makes a nice staycation away from Berlin. The former Hansa League and Swedish settlement offers quaint walks as well as nearby beaches.

Gallipoli, the Italian city on the peninsula’s heal may not be the most well traversed destination in the Latin Country, but that maybe be a good thing. Located on the Ionian Coast, the historical city offers a coast of crystal clear water along with beach weather until November. That part shocked me! As well, the seaside spot has welcomed Gay travellers for decades.
