Fall Trends from Bloomingdale’s of New York Fashion Director of Ready to Wear Brooke Jaffe.
- The color Bordeaux: A top color for the season, Bordeaux is a rich, warm hue that tends to look good on everyone. I can’t wait to wear a pair of Bordeaux cords with a great pair of boots and a chunky sweater. A colored leather jacket is a great update to your fall wardrobe and pairs perfectly with denim in all colors from blue to gray, to black to ivory. Also, don’t be afraid to try a monochrome look and wear head to toe Bordeaux!
- The romantic blouse: I’m always looking for ways to update denim looks. The fall runways provided endless inspiration for how to do that with a romantic blouse this season. I love more exaggerated styles that have a Victorian feel with details like a high neck and delicate lace. Romantic blouses from Alice + Olivia and Dylan Gray are some of my favorite pieces from our fall 100% Bloomingdale’s collection. I can’t wait to pair these pieces with a boot cut jean or a black pencil skirt for an updated dinner-outlook.
- Plaid and military combinations: I love mixing a plaid shirt or shirtdress with a military green anorak (such as our exclusive one this season from Velvet). Continue to pile on the layers by adding a fur scarf. The combination feels new when styled together this season. Pairing this look like a leather mini or distressed jean and a more casual boot really completes it. For a solid foundation, I recommend Rails plaid shirts!
- Prints: I was so excited to see prints dominating the fall runways. Retro scarf prints inspired by the 60’s and 70’s are making a comeback in a big way this season. I love these prints on everything from dresses to blouses. One of my favorites is our 100% Bloomingdale’s Nanette Lepore dress- not only is the print great, but I love the mock neck detail.
