Milan Fashion Week

Black and Paper coverage in Milan.  Quick images and write ups from Milan Fashion Week.  Stay tuned for more coverage.

Casadei-Mr. Casadi was tamed this season in a way but I liked the thigh high boots.

Ultrachic theme this season was Back to School with humor.

Celebrating it’s 90th anniversary, Furla stayed with strength by launching variations of the MyBag, a playful collection handbags with different flaps.

Vladimiro Gioia’s collection of furs might not be for the politically correct but his other looks of organza and silk hit the spot.

Fratelli Rossetti decided on personality this season for the new collection.  I am excited to see the brand break out of the comfort zone.  It is a masculine collection yet still classic.

A label making strides with its own definition of femininity veering towards the masculine side.  I was pleased with this collection.

Roberto Cavalli decadence rock&roll looks are for the adventurous, the label never disappoints.

Milan Fashion Week Men Ferutdin Zakirov

Lux Style is the term I would use to describe menswear brand Ferutdin Zakirov.  Heavy on looks based on leather and fur.  I was impressed with the detail and quality of the items.  Being a new label I expected a few mistakes, gladly I found none, but the attention to quality was apparent.  The snake skin leather jacket was highlight.  The looks were first class casual wear for the man who does not want to dress up but wants to be noticed for his rich style.

Issey Miyake at Paris Fashion Week Men

From Paris Fashion Week Men Black and Paper covered the Issey Miyake runway show.

This season the designer went with muted colors and shapes, nothing dramatic. I would describe the collection as “Cyber Cool.”  Prints for jackets and pants were nice while all was loosely fitted on the body with many collarless looks. The monochromatic blue and black combination made an impression me.

Martin Margiela Spring 2017

Martin Margiela, the fashion worlds deconstructionist Garbo because of his aversion to interviews and being photographed launched his house in 1988.   The Royal Academy of Arts graduate rejected fashion as a luxury form but instead used vintage and old materials incorporated into new looks and designs.  The historical aesthetic of this brand is about pick and mix with forms.

John Galliano has been the Creative Director of the label since 2015.  I admit it, I was excited when it was announced Mr. Galliano would take the helm of the brand, a perfect match of the whimsical combined with different elements of inspirations.  Both the house and its new head were not afraid to play with proportions or fabrics; there was the mutual history of exploration.

When it was confirmed I could see the Spring-2017 collection up close and personal it was a dream come true.  I saw the details, touched the material, it gave me real appreciation of the collection.  For me, the transparent blouse was great.  There were pieces inspired by backpacks; skirts with broken pieces of CD’s and interpretations of the classic trench coat were other highlights.

Margiela has always been a label with a certain style, but still endures.

A BIG THANK YOU to the Margiela Team.

Agnes B. at Paris Fashion Week

Agnes B. stayed true to form with her Spring 2017.  The looks had a coquette feeling of a lady taking a leisurely walk along the Seine River.  Leather skirts with soft sweaters, sheer, and pajama looks all combined for a soft retro influenced collection.

Milan Fashion Week Part 5

Does Milan have a signature style?  If making the best clothing is a signature style, then I would say, “YES”!
