Chi Chi Ice Cream

I just happen to walk past the TOOA Booth at IFA. The Milan based brand has a store in the fashionable area of the city across from the D&G store. I have jetted past the establishment many times on my way to a fashion show on presentation. I will pop in next time I am there. The TOOA ice cream machine is chi chi in many colors.

ND10 Family Tech Member

The Neato D10 is a high end powerful robot vacuum for those of us who are not fans of cleaning floors. The very obvious D shaped device moves around the flat sweeping up debris efficiently.

My first impressions: speed, app, cleaning.

I tried the D10 without using the app to see how it worked. The docking process was straight forward. I hit the top “ON” button for a test try. There was a quick spin, off it went from one side to another. At first a bit awkward because the flat was unfamiliar terrain to the learning robot. On the device noise side, a constant whirl. The housing is smooth, simmering, sleek fast moving rolling and side brushes. The large 700 ml dust bin requires fewer emptying checks.

I got use to navigating the MyNeato app, but initially I found the somewhat software clumsy. Thankfully after looking at the reviews on Google Play and Apple Store I was not the only one. I had a struggle downloading to the OS System but had a smoother time with Android. The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi pairing functions were hassle free. Schedule the time runs and controlling the No Go Zones took a moment to learn, now it a simple touch on the screen. Before leaving on holiday, the floor space was set up for a run, while on the beach I clicked the button activating an Echo Mode session. The other cleaning mode is Turbo. However, I never use this feature because the energy saver speed is enough.

It is important to keep cables out of the way of the Neato. The smooth voice prompts comes across as the voice from the sci fi film “Logan Run” side.

After some runs the Neato D10 learned the layout of the floor. A complete cleaning took less than an hour, a short run was around thirty minutes.

Final Words

The Neato D10 is pricey compared to other robot cleaners. But this floor cleaning device become a part of my household tech family intelligently roaming the rooms three times a week.

Worth a buy.

Tech Coming Soon

The IFA Innovations Media Brief 2022 took place July 13th and 14th. The annual technology preview event happened seven weeks before the launch Berlin consumer electronic show after a two year absence due to Covid.

While a smaller than past IMB’s gathering, the atmosphere was enthusiastic if not intimate. Pinpointing a micro trend, staying comfortable in the house, as the world has gone through lock downs, appliance producers showed off gadgets for nesting indoors.

Being a sucker for an invitation, Tineco sent me an invite to check out their new dry-wet mop. No more back bends or hands in dirty water, sounds promising. The Chinese brand introduced the Floor One S5 cleaning device with screen, a very high tech mop. Would I buy it? Yes.

German home ware maker Karcher showed off a new white minimalistic air purifier design with a trace of the brand’s yellow trademark. The shocking part of the new device, no app. The user has to physically operate the new gadget. Would I buy it? Maybe

Swiss luxury coffee machine maker showed off their newest counter top cafe product with an LCD display along with more features for coffee lovers. Would the Jura? Pricey.

Berlin start up Mitte Home unveiled a mineral water purifying home appliance using cartridges. Would I buy it? I have to think it.

The other Swiss brand, Bru served up a hassle free way of making tea without mess. Would I buy it? Maybe.

Others

Honorable mention presentations at IFA IMB.

Bosch introduced a new graphite washer machine. The white good appliance had a startling look.

Miele’s high end smooth kitchen aesthetic deserve a look featuring smooth edges and clean surfaces.

A Repair not Throwaway conference was interesting. As the world becomes more concerned about the planet, tech garbage filling up landfills is big concern.

IFA 2022 takes place in Berlin from September 2nd to September 6th. Looking forward to it.
