Tech Coming Soon

The IFA Innovations Media Brief 2022 took place July 13th and 14th. The annual technology preview event happened seven weeks before the launch Berlin consumer electronic show after a two year absence due to Covid.

While a smaller than past IMB’s gathering, the atmosphere was enthusiastic if not intimate. Pinpointing a micro trend, staying comfortable in the house, as the world has gone through lock downs, appliance producers showed off gadgets for nesting indoors.

Being a sucker for an invitation, Tineco sent me an invite to check out their new dry-wet mop. No more back bends or hands in dirty water, sounds promising. The Chinese brand introduced the Floor One S5 cleaning device with screen, a very high tech mop. Would I buy it? Yes.

German home ware maker Karcher showed off a new white minimalistic air purifier design with a trace of the brand’s yellow trademark. The shocking part of the new device, no app. The user has to physically operate the new gadget. Would I buy it? Maybe

Swiss luxury coffee machine maker showed off their newest counter top cafe product with an LCD display along with more features for coffee lovers. Would the Jura? Pricey.

Berlin start up Mitte Home unveiled a mineral water purifying home appliance using cartridges. Would I buy it? I have to think it.

The other Swiss brand, Bru served up a hassle free way of making tea without mess. Would I buy it? Maybe.

Others

Honorable mention presentations at IFA IMB.

Bosch introduced a new graphite washer machine. The white good appliance had a startling look.

Miele’s high end smooth kitchen aesthetic deserve a look featuring smooth edges and clean surfaces.

A Repair not Throwaway conference was interesting. As the world becomes more concerned about the planet, tech garbage filling up landfills is big concern.

IFA 2022 takes place in Berlin from September 2nd to September 6th. Looking forward to it.

From the 1970’s still going!

“They Don’t Make Them Like They Used To!”In this case, the expression has merit. As Spring rolls around, juicy time has come. Normally, three times a week I mix fruits and vegetables. What brand of blender am I using? A Modern USA connivence dated from 1975 made by Hamilton Beach. This is not an endorsement, but admiration for durability.

I find the kitchenware device amazing. After over 40 years packed in the closet, the blender still works as if taken from store self yesterday. I purchased a number of blenders over the years. The motors burned out or some other problem. All ended up in the heap. The one fault with this counter top appliance, the blender gasket was replaced because of lost.
My diet ritual from April to August consists of mango, carrot, avocado, pineapple,  bananas, and peaches. There have been no problems blending ingredients. Equipped with 14 speeds able to mix at high to low levels, the liquid consistency is fine. Three medal blades quickly minced all. The glass blender jar holds 5 cups, enough for my daily intake. The leftovers get placed in the refrigerator.

Like the 1970’s American TV Comedies, the Hamilton Beach Blender is loud. Thankfully for my neighbors, I blend after 10am.  I do not know what the energy consumption and cost expense.

Hamilton Beach continues to manufacture appliances, not in America but in China.

A low-tech item from a generation ago, still going strong.

Tech and Health Gadget

Getting in shape for summer 2017, it is all about eating healthy, 60% diet, and 40% workout.  Incorporating a smoothie diet in a workout and meal regimen is a good basis for solid results while lowering caloric intake while offering safe dosage of vitamins, proteins and other nutrients.   If you are going start a Smoothie based diet, the right blender is important, daily use will only cease functioning the motor in 6 months.  Secondly, cheap blenders tend to mix the ingredients poorly.

During IFA 2016, Philips introduced a new blender for the health conscience crowd.   The Innergizer Blender is quite a kitchen appliance, able to breakdown and mix fruits, vegetables, and nuts with a motor speed up to 45000 RPM.  Equipped a silent dome and “quieter operating function” for minimizing noise, for those of you who workout in the morning, this is a blessing for a pre-gym drink without the grating sounds of blender.  Besides being an advanced kitchen device, The Innergizer is compatible with the “Philips Healthy Drinks App” with over 100 smoothie and healthy drink recipes.

At IFA 2016 Black and Paper got a demonstration of the Philips Innergizer Blender.

Note: We have not tested the kitchen appliance.  We thought it was interesting being smoothie enthusiasts.
