Nudie Jeans
Sexy Sustainable Fashion
Another follow up to a past story regarding Nudie Jeans I wrote a few years ago. The brand’s policy concerning sustainable fashion is not just a marketing strategy but a part of the Swedish label’s DNA. If a pair of jeans are torn or in need of mending the buyer can take them back to a repair center free of charge. I took my pair back to the store for second time to fix the rip in my pocket. After filling out the form the staff took the jeans back and politely said, “they will be ready in 3 weeks.”
I can honestly recommend buying pieces from this denim brand. I have not had any regrets in 4 years of wear. A good pair of denim are like a good charm. They give off a feeling of confidence, feeling good, looking great!
Berlinale Luxury

Luxury watch maker Glashutte Original is known for its quality time pieces. This year the German brand introduces a special collection at the 68th Berlinale: Senator Chronographs: The Capital Edition. Producing only 130, 100 stainless steel, 25 red gold, and 5 platinum versions, each series is a reflection of masculinity, style, and elegance for the man on the go in the big city.
Based in Saxony, Glashutte Original equips it pieces with the brand’s three quarter plate and skeleton rotor. Each creation has a 4 Herz automatic movement and colum wheel mechanism, 21 carat gold oscillating mass and sapphire crystal case back.
More details on the watch from the Berlinale, stay tuned.
Rock Star at Milan

Portuguese designer Miguel Vieira interprets masculine looks melted with the Rock & Roll, not veered on the safe side staying on the edge of classical looks. Stage superstar looks made of jacquards and faux fur were central themes of the collection. The press released read, “a celebration adventure” I would agree, but make the adventure concludes in a trendy night time bar.
I was not too crazy about the waist bags. I felt a bit awkward. A man wearing this look would not want that type of bulge.
Overall, Vieira’s runway show was worth the wait. Milan Fashion Week Men should be happy to have this Portuguese export.

What is the L’Homme Couture Exhibition?
The ideal started with an editorial I did 4 years ago men with women’s accessories and jewelry. I was approached to an editorial for Mellerio, the oldest jewelry house in Paris. The brand was celebrating its 400th anniversary. I had this idea to take a picture of a girl and a guy in their jewelry. They were a bit of surprised because the jewels are normally worn by a woman. The results were fantastic. I liked the images a lot so I decided to continue the story. That is what inspired my exhibition L’Homme Couture.
Is this a gender free exhibition?
We should be beyond labels. If you think about fashion history, men were extravagant. During the Greek and Roman empires, the Renaissance, and the 17th century men wore jewelry and make up. Now everyone wears suits and sports clothes. It is boring! I am a fashion photographer. Except some details, it is all the same. I wanted to show something different, something to make people react. There is no label on this. I am a man born in the 1980’s. There were all these pop groups from David Bowie and Duran Duran who wore make up and stylish clothes. Suddenly in the 21st century, all is conservative.
What attracts you to the male form?
I like muscled guys but thin. Fashion models are quite long. I was fashion photographer for women at first. When I came back from living in Montreal for a time, an agency contacted me to shoot a girl and guy for a test. The agent liked the images of the guys. After that I was getting booked to shoot male models. Other agencies in the city started sending me only male models. I was boxed into the reputation of working well with men. I have been doing it for 10 years. I do editorials with female models but with men time is not constrained. I can shoot fast and explore other elements. With female models there is more time needed to set ups on the hair and make-up.
What style of photographer are you?
Portraitist first then I am a fashion photographer. For me the person is more important than the clothes. I like character and attitude in front of the camera.
L’Homme Couture is on display at the W Hotel Paris until January 3, 2018.

Italian leather crafts wear brand Serapian has a new collection this fall inspired by the seventies. I saw their pieces at Pitti Uomo in Florence. For a man looking for a luxury bag with style and details but without the brand markings, I recommend these bags for their craftsmanship and versatility; the looks can be both formal and informal. Of course all bags are Italian Made.
The 14 Capsule Collection is only available in 30 boutiques and Serapian Stores.

Black and Paper Pick for Fall 17

Giuseppe Zanotti’s Fall Men’s shoes are based on his interpretation of dandyism, Footwear designs that are formal, athletic, and night life. I saw rich subtle with touches of bling in Milan, loafers, sneakers, slip-ons were the core items of the collection. Essentially it’s just shoes for men who want look sharp. Silks, suedes, velvets, were mixed in the form of hi-tops, moccasins, and low-outs. Zanotti does not push the envelope instead he makes a turn with his imprints of tassels and embroidery.
A Dapper Touch
Hats have made a comeback in fashion the past few seasons. They have become style statements. There is a heightened interest in the dapper look that goes along with this fashion accessory.
