Not Missed?

TISK! TISK! Trump, the Political Foil is gone along with his spotlight antics. No longer do we have those off the cuff Tweets taking over the global front pages. The distractions were laughable yet made many feel safe and superior. But today is a different time. Suddenly, many leaders look shoddy at best, mediocre handling of a crisis without end.

The EU is now finger pointing at everyone for their Corona Virus actions. See AstraZeneca headlines. Chancellor Merkel’s puffy, exhausted face looks as if she has not slept in a week. President Macron has pulled another vanishing act, while EU head Von Der Leyen is in the “blame anyone with a pulse” mode for the blocs on going Virus Vaccine disaster.

Meanwhile, The Netherlands is on the edge after 3 nights of Covid Riots. Hundreds have been arrested, with city mayors declaring the country could be headed for civil war.

At least Prime Minister Johnson apologized for his government’s failures. It may not be enough to save him from voter’s wrath.

Spain ran out of vaccines. Portugal is asking for international help. In China, there is a new outbreak possibly forcing millions back into quarantine.

A Plan Based On Hope Is Not a Plan

The Democratic Party hopes platitudes and announcements will cover up the reality of “they have no real plan.” California Democratic Governor Newsom wants to reopen the state. Newsroom’s new business as usual approach in the middle of new more aggressive home grown Covid strain makes sense only to a man saying a pray over and over again in his head.

Newly elected President Biden claims 100 million could be vaccinated by the fall. There is no real structure in place for such an operation. Good intentions can only paper over leadership failings for so long.

We may not have liked Donald, despised him. But without his headlines to distract us, focusing on today’s headlines and leaders is alarming.

For some reason, today, I think a lot country heads miss President Trump. If I were their shoes, I would.

Dems Win,,,AND??

The Democrats will take complete control of the United States Government. The historical Georgia win for Raphael Warnock and possible smidgen of a victory for Osloff are significant. Warnock is the first African American Senator from the state with a long reputation of African American Voter Suppression. Replacing GOP candidate Perdue to represent the old Confederate stronghold in Washington is a bitter sweet victory.

As the country reels from a mismanaged Pandemic, getting rid of Trump moved into righteous zealotry. The Dems played this card because they had nothing to offer a frightened populace other than more fear. Running from the wolf you go straight to the mouth of a fox. The Democratic Party does not deserve this slim victory. Their voters are from a place of desperation with no alternatives.

This same political group does not support affordable healthcare during a health crisis. The shambolic placing of Nancy Pelosi as the head of House of Representative shatters all illusions of some type of relief for the lower 98%. The so called progressive wind of the party or “ The Squad” have been labeled “FraudSquad”on social media for not gaining leverage during the leadership vote.

Prop 22

California, the most liberal state in the country with a Democratic government the immediate of effects of Proposition 22 are clear. The anti labor bill sponsored by tech companies is a new form of labor exploitation. Governor Newsom signed the legislation into law switching gig workers from employees to private contractors with no rights or benefits. Vice President Elect Harris’ brother in law help draft the proposition. Albertsons supermarkets, the nations second largest, fired all union delivery drivers. Handing the service to 3rdparty companies with lower salaried workers. The political plan is to roll out this gem of employment trickery across the country.

As for President Biden, expectations are low. The hopes of a second coming of FDR have faded. The $600 stimulus check looks cruel in the face of such uncertainty. This pitiful amount wouldn’t pay a month’s rent on a two room apartment in a second tier city. Perhaps, the political class does not see the food lines on the news.

The hopes of a Democratic reset, a return to the status quo are fanciful, if not dangerously delusional. Trumpism will strive without its leader. Wishing Covid-19 away is not a policy. The economy is on life support.

The Democrats won. Be as that may, over the next 24 months prepare for disappointment.

Side Note. At the time of writitng there is a recall petition in California to replace Democratic Govenor Newsom. Should organizers reach 1.8 million signatures, a new election is triggered.

A Return of the Jedi Ending!

Activist Micheal Moore tweeted images of fireworks in the air. Did the Death Star explode after a successive Rebel Alliance attack? Celebrations are taking place all over the planet as if the Galactic Emperor had been slain.

The past 4 years have come to a close with the defeat of a man many loathed. No more nervous twitches while looking over the screen for the latest news. A man governing the most powerful country in the world by Twitter has ended. Trump is leaving the White House one way or the other. A vulgar character who never matured into the role of having the highest office of the land. For some reason he retained and relished all his bull in a china shop short comings. Shockingly, this did not bother many voters. The President gained 8 million more votes than his past campaign.

The US will rejoin the world but as a different country than before 2016. A deeply divided nation at war with itself. What is the expression: “Dysfunctional breeds dysfunctional”. Trump was a love child of a very dysfunctional political system. A man who used the apparatus to stroke his over the top narcissism.

Optimist point to a national healing, that will not happen. America is sick patient on the brink. Covid-19 ravages its citizens, unemployment at record levels, business closed, wealth inequality grows.

The Blue Landslide that was suppose happen, never materialized. The Democrats lost seats in the House. The party infighting has begun. As for the Republicans, they suffered a defeat but have licked their wounds and are now prepared for the upcoming Congressional battles. They lost a buffoon, but are still standing waiting for next a leader who will be darker and smarter.

Biden has his hands full over the next 48 months.
