NOPE! I cannot recommend paying $400 for a pair of sneakers made in who knows where. If I had asked my parents for pair when I was in the targeted buying group these trainers are targeted she would have responded “Not on my dime, McDonald’s is always hiring”. LVMH acquired American brand Tiffany & Co in 2021. The famous blue colored jeweler has been an exclusive place of dreams luxury staple for 185 years. Those days are over in the era of “masstige” where are labels are trading up or down.
Partnering with sportswear titan Nike, the first of I am sure, many co-branding partnerships signals the new owners plan on making their New York based holding more accessible to a younger generation.
A high priced sneaker with a colored “Swish” packed in a fancy branded box brings out the cynical side of me.

I looked over the Dior Pre-Fall Collection. Kim Jones continues to lean to streetwear for inspiration. His commercial instincts are solid. Luxury labels must court new buyers to stay relevant. I am not sure where the line is drawn between courting and desperate attempt.
The new Nike Air Jordan hi-top crosses the border. The association reminds me of an LA Swap Meet stall. I do understand the inspiration other than some street credibility. In all honesty, it takes tacky to an overpriced level. For many reasons this type of cross over collaboration reminds me of Pierre Cardin licensing products in the 1980’s. Where did that end?
Lastly, with all certainty, this new sneaker will have millions of fake copies in a matter of weeks. On sale at the Swap Meet for 29.99.
At Pitti Uomo this year Golden Goose Brand Deluxe Brand made a spectacular impression with a Skating Boarding show during the brands presentation.

WOW! I am covering my first Pitti in Milan. It lives up to its reputation as a place to go menswear fashion on a global level. On dDAy one we met designers, stylists, PR, and of course the famous Peacocks strolling around the trade fair in with all their colors.
Then of course, what is a tradeshow without the after work events, we were not disappointed. The first show was a tribute to Ciro Paone, Mr. Kiton, the luxury suit maker, The journey of the man behind the label was in 6 parts from starting with the Family to the Quality.
The setting for Kiton event was spectacular, Palazzo Gerini, A Florence Palace in the center of the city.
NEXT, We jumped in a shuttle and went to the next event for Golden Goose Sneakers. The setting had the “WOW” effect, in an abandon train station with a skateboarding venue set in the center. Slowly the lights went down, then, BOOM, Flashing Lights, Skateboarders in Gold Jackets. I am not familiar with the Golden Gooose brand but this event peaked my curiosity to learn more. We will report more in the future.
